Emergency appointments are available at our Street Lane hospital at all times on weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. During normal opening hours, a vet will be present on-site, however they may already be working with sick animals. For this reason, we strongly advise that you call the surgery and give us warning of your problem wherever possible before making your way to the surgery. We can give you suitable management advice and prepare correctly for your arrival.

It is our aim to ensure a vet examines your pet at the earliest opportunity. Where your emergency is unannounced and the vet is already consulting or operating, then a qualified nurse may assess your emergency in a nurse triage clinic. Your pet may be admitted and taken to a vet for examination, or you may be reassured that waiting until the vet is free is appropriate. In this instance, the nurse will remain available should you or your pet require further support.

Outside of normal consulting hours, our nursing team will be the first point of contact if you telephone the surgery. Calls will then be directed to the on-call vet as appropriate.

An additional out-of-hours supplement may be charged for animals seen at Holly House under the following circumstances:

  • Unannounced emergency during the working day
  • After 7:00pm and before 8:00am weekdays
  • After 5:00pm Saturday evening and before 10:00am Sunday morning
  • After 4:00pm Sunday evening and before 8:00am Monday morning

24 Hour Nursing Care

At Holly House Vets Hospital we provide round-the-clock critical care for all our inpatients. Our dedicated night nurse team looks after any admitted patients overnight and checks them as often as needed. Should our nurses be concerned about an inpatient, they will seek advice from the on-call veterinary surgeon.
